Nobel Prize Winners Visit Kansas.

Crazy Evangelicals

As you know, the “educators” (I place them in quotes for a reason) in Kansas are debating teaching the fact less based “Intelligent Design” in school. For those that live under a rock, “intelligent design” is nothing more than the biblical creationism story wrapped in a new and stupid new name.

Well the scientific community is throwing there voice into the discussion, from the AP.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Thirty-eight Nobel Prize laureates asked Kansas state educators to reject proposed science standards that treat evolution as a seriously questionable theory, calling it instead the "indispensable" foundation of biology.

The group, led by the writer Elie Wiesel, said it wanted to defend science and combat "efforts by the proponents of so-called intelligent design to politicize scientific inquiry."

The proposed standards, which could come up for final Board of Education approval later this year, are designed to expose students to more criticism of evolution but state in an introduction that they do not endorse intelligent design.

I think that they are wasting their breath, It is starting to sound like the people in Kansas are devoid of any sort of thought, Kansas will do it’s best to create a generation of dumb asses.

Pat Robertson Has a Special Place in Hell.

Crazy Evangelicals

Now it is not surprise to me that Pat Robertson is a complete and total idiot in the highest order, but what does is that people may listen to him.

ROBERTSON: You know, it's just amazing, though, that people say the litmus test for [Supreme Court nominee John G.] Roberts [Jr.] is whether or not he supports the wholesale slaughter of unborn children. We have killed over 40 million unborn babies in America. I was reading, yesterday, a book that was very interesting about what God has to say in the Old Testament about those who shed innocent blood. And he used the term that those who do this, "the land will vomit you out." That -- you look at your -- you look at the book of Leviticus and see what it says there. And this author of this said, "well 'vomit out' means you are not able to defend yourself." But have we found we are unable somehow to defend ourselves against some of the attacks that are coming against us, either by terrorists or now by natural disaster? Could they be connected in some way? And he goes down the list of the things that God says will cause a nation to lose its possession, and to be vomited out. And the amazing thing is, a judge has now got to say, "I will support the wholesale slaughter of innocent children" in order to get confirmed to the bench. And I am sure Judge Roberts is not going to say any such thing. But nevertheless, that's the litmus test that's being put on, the very thing that could endanger our nation. And it's very interesting. Read the bible, read Leviticus, see what it says there.

You can see the video in Media Matters fro America.

You know the bible says a lot of things, I mean a lot of things. Did you know that the very book of the bible you quote Pat (Leviticus) says that if you eat shellfish or you will go to some sort of hell...

Leviticus 11:10 - And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

It also says that cutting your hair is a sin, I do note that you have cut your hair, and I do not see a beard on you.

Leviticus 19:27 - Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

I also want to note that from what I learned in Sunday school sin is sin and has no real weight. So given that you Pat have brought up the old testament in order to justify the hurricane and abortion, we can assume that you are in fact going to hell, you hair cutting, crab eating sinner?

Pat, do us a favor, shut the hell up, you are an embarrassment to this nation, and I am sure that most real Christians cringe when you speak. Not the Hipo-Christians you represent.

Ultra-Right Wing Speaks Again.

Crazy Evangelicals

I can only assume that if you are this obsessed with gay people you do so because you are a raging queer yourself. This church has so bastardized the teachings of the Bible to the point that it is almost funny.

So here is my message to all my Bush loving readers, I would rather be on the left with the likes of Jane Fonda and Michael Moore than on the right, where these people are on your side.

I will take Michael More any day.

Sean Hannity, Prickless Moron Covering for the Uber-Right.

Media

We know the truth, Sean Hannity is a right wing shill. Well he is starting to blame the left for something he KNOWS is a product of the evangelical whack-jobs of the ultra-uber-far-right.

From Media Matters.

On the August 30 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Fox News host Sean Hannity falsely blamed "the anti-war left" for a protest at the August 28 funeral of Sgt. Jeremy Doyle of Indianapolis, who was killed while serving in Iraq.

Hannity read excerpts of an article on the website of Indianapolis TV station WISH describing the protest, adding, "I guess this is just another example of how the anti-war left supports our brave troops." In fact, as The Indianapolis Star reported, the protesters were not anti-war liberals but, rather, members of Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) in Topeka, Kansas, who claim that the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq are inflicted by God to punish the United States for its acceptance of gays and lesbians.

I have blogged on this before, you can see that here and here

So go to hell Sean, at best, you are a shill, but I suspect pathological liar with little to no member to speak of is more on the mark.

atellite picture of Hurricane Katrina at NOAA.com looks like a 6-week unborn human child as it comes ashore the Gulf Coast, vicinity states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida at 12:32 PM, Monday, August 29, 2005

Hurricane "Katrina" (reportedly means "Pure" in Russian) - satellite image - Monday, 29 Aug 05, 12:32 PM (EDT) - coming ashore Gulf Coast - satellite image looks like 6-week fetus

check out NOAA website: www.noaa.gov/

The image of the hurricane above with its eye already ashore at 12:32 PM Monday, August 29 looks like a fetus (unborn human baby) facing to the left (west) in the womb, in the early weeks of gestation (approx. 6 weeks). Even the orange color of the image is reminiscent of a commonly used pro-life picture of early prenatal development (see sign with picture of 8-week pre-born human child below). In this picture, and in another picture in today's on-line edition of USA Today*, this hurricane looks like an unborn human child.

Evangelicals Feel Persecuted

Crazy Evangelicals

There people will not stop until we are back in 1654.

From RACHEL ZOLL of The Associated Press

To outsiders, conservative Christians seem at the peak of their influence.

Books by evangelical pastors Rick Warren and Joel Osteen are multimillion best-sellers, megachurches are building satellite congregations to meet demand, conservatives control Congress and, most importantly, religious activists helped put a Bible-believer in the White House.

Yet, many evangelicals still consider themselves a persecuted majority, hounded by "secular fundamentalists" intent on driving religion from public life.

Opponents find this view baffling. Bill Leonard, dean of Wake Forest University Divinity School in North Carolina and a critic of the religious right, said evangelicals consider themselves oppressed only because some Americans disagree with them.

"They want to be culture-dominant," Leonard said.

But many evangelical leaders say conservative Protestants and Roman Catholics continue to be maligned by some of the most influential institutions in the country - the media, public schools, universities and Hollywood - and they argue that societal demands for tolerance are extended to every group but them.

"There is an attempt by the secularists to take Jesus Christ and to take God out of every aspect of our society," said the Rev. Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham.

I wish Jesus would just get here already, because 2 great things would happen, the real Christians will go to heaven, and they hate filled morons that use the bible to condemn people, judge people, and all and all live their lives in very un-Christian manner.

Then we would have a better world, we would have no Cristians, and we could point and laugh at these people. Ha ha, you didn't go to heaven!

Bush Is Nuts, and People are Starting to See it. NUTS!

Failed Presidency

Great opinion from Mitch Cohen, Special to The Clarion-Ledger

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

— President Bush, Greece, N.Y., May 24

This week, President Bush set out yet again to make the case for his failing war. In fact, in a remarkable sign of political weakness, he's been forced to do so in two of the reddest states: Utah and Idaho. Having lost the nation at large, Bush is struggling to hold even his base.

Salt Lake City — site of an overwhelming Bush reelection victory —saw 2,000 citizens take to the streets in protest against the president and his war, led by the city's mayor himself.

Here are some of the greatest lines of the whole thing.

"First, this administration is wholly unwilling to change course—even when they're obviously driving off a cliff. Second, and much more threatening to the outcome in Iraq, the president seems incapable of realizing mistakes.

"He's entirely blind to error. His is the ultimate "faith-based" government. All decisions made by the president must be prima facie correct because he's made them.

"Any seeming trouble in the world is merely a matter of faulty PR, easily fixed by some better way of making the case.

"Surely this explains Karen Hughes' appointment to the State Department, tasked with creating "rapid response" teams to counter bad news and defend Bush's policies to the world."

The Onion - Gets the Joke, the Punchline - Kansas!

Crazy Evangelicals

This is down right funny, I love the Onion.

KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.

"Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, 'God' if you will, is pushing them down," said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.

Go and read the whole thing, but swollow your food first, or you will choke. http://www.theonion.com/news/index.php?issue=4133&n=2

Harpers Mag - How a faithful nation gets Jesus wrong

Crazy Evangelicals

I love Harpers, they are by far the most well thought out publication ever...

Those that run around telling you that you are going to hell, and voting because they know what Jesus wants, have no clue about Jesus, or his teachings...

From Harpers.org

Only 40 percent of Americans can name more than four of the Ten Commandments, and a scant half can cite any of the four authors of the Gospels. Twelve percent believe Joan of Arc was Noah's wife. This failure to recall the specifics of our Christian heritage may be further evidence of our nation's educational decline, but it probably doesn't matter all that much in spiritual or political terms. Here is a statistic that does matter: Three quarters of Americans believe the Bible teaches that "God helps those who help themselves." That is, three out of four Americans believe that this uber-American idea, a notion at the core of our current individualist politics and culture, which was in fact uttered by Ben Franklin, actually appears in Holy Scripture. The thing is, not only is Franklin's wisdom not biblical; it's counter-biblical. Few ideas could be further from the gospel message, with its radical summons to love of neighbor. On this essential matter, most Americans-most American Christians-are simply wrong, as if 75 percent of American scientists believed that Newton proved gravity causes apples to fly up.

Bush as Honest as a Used Car Salesman.

Failed Presidency

Well it looks like there are more people that hate him then like them; the collective mood in America is that Bush and his administration are a bunch of liars.

I new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll shows support for Bush is eroding, and fast. Bush's approval rating went down 1 point (no post speech bounce they were hoping for), and is a meager 1 point from his all time low. The rest of the poll shows that the American people are waking up. In a blow to his administration, 41% said that they believe Bush is "honest and straightforward" While 50% say he is not.

When asked if they thought Bush was "Being Smart and Intelligent" those that rated him at a 5 (I strongly Agree) has fallen by 7 points, while those that strongly disagree has increased by 7 as well. This is a 15 point drop from his high in May of 2003.

The poll asked some very important questions about the upcoming Supreme Court nomination. When asked "Taking into consideration the views of secular and liberal groups in deciding whom to appoint.", 40% say that is the right direction, while only 25% disagreed, 29% said the did not care, or had no opinion. When asked, "Appoint a judge who would be less strict about the separation between church and state", 41% said wrong direction, while only 36% said right direction.

What came out of this poll that gives me hope that America is not a total wasteland of right wing whackos. When asked, "Appointing a Judge that would oppose legalizing gay marriage?", those that said it was the right direction was 36%, while those that said it was the wrong direction 35%, those that did not care, nor have an opinion 28%. So clearly the majority of Americans support, or just don't care if gays get married, this is in sharp contrast to what the uber Right wing would have you believe. Maybe there is hope after all.

Read the whole results here, they are quite ugly for this administration.

Toyota: Americans to dumb to build cars, thanks Bush!

Economic News

Toyota has decided that it is going to take the hit and build it's new plant in Canada, ignoring the millions in subsidies many states were offering them to build there.

Here is what was said on why they choose Canada...

The level of the workforce in general is so high that the training program you need for people, even for people who have not worked in a Toyota plant before, is minimal compared to what you have to go through in the southeastern United States

In a nutshell, Toyota does not want to spend the cash to train Americans, when the Canadians are for the most part trained...

Please keep in mind, the Right is been waging a war on brains for some time. They sat that smart people ask too many questions, and therefore are harder co-opt into the blind faith that is required to be a evangelical. Science is bad, world travel is bad, non biblical education is bad, meanwhile the rest of the world passes us by, and we are too stupid to build a car.

More of the Right of Right Evangelicals Protest another fallen Hero

Crazy Evangelicals

The damn people are so disturbed that I can honestly say, I wish they would die. This is the warped GodHatesFags people. They are "Christian" they run around the country protesting gay pride events, funerals, and now, the services being held for those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Here is the reason why, to them Bush is a leftist bastard, and because this nation is not shooting fags on site we are a nation heading to hell. So they protest funerals of our troops because "God hates America, and this is punishment".

They should read the bible they claim to follow; there is a whole bunch of crap in there about not judging people, loving your neighbor and so on...

There is a special place in hell for these people...

From there website (I choose not to post the URL)

Number of Americans who have entered hell as result of this bloody takeover of Babylon:

1,723

So to my friends in Tampa, please read this, They are coming to a service of a fallen soldier near you...

The Rev. Phelps, pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, does not attend the funerals to comfort family members, however.

He is there to express thanks for the soldiers' deaths.

Phelps and his followers believe that the deaths of American soldiers is God's retribution for society's acceptance of gay Americans.

Although Phelps says he's targeting servicemen and women of all sexual orientations, he's perhaps best known for showing up with vicious signs at the funerals of AIDS victims, as well as gay victims of a hate crimes.

Phelps and other followers say they're going to create the same scene at a St. Petersburg Church where a funeral will be held Monday for Sgt. James Stewart, who died last week in Iraq. Stewart spent most of his boyhood in St. Petersburg and his mother still lives there.

Bush Supporters Protest Fallen Hero's Funeral

Crazy Evangelicals

I wanted to point out some more Bush supporters at work...

Setting: Funeral of a fallen soldier.
Who: Staff Sgt. Christoper Piper.

A Green Beret served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, he was awarded a bronze star for his combat service. He was killed in Afghanistan.

Now here is where I do not understand these Whack jobs...

From Huffington Post

... a right-wing Protestant Christian church group from Topeka, Kansas [the Phelps people] is planning to demonstrate at Piper's funeral services at the Old North Church. They claim U.S. soldiers like Piper are dying because the country is being punished for its tolerance of what they see as immoral behavior, such as homosexuality.

So these sickos are protesting the Funeral of a fallen hero, because god hates fags? Did I miss something. Keep in mind people, this is the people that Bush works for, Every single one of these whacks voted Bush, and he loves them...

Read the signs people ...
"Thank God for IED's" (Roadside bombs)
"God Hates America"
"Fag Soldiers in Hell"
"God Blewup the Troops"
"Fags Doom Nations"

Why are people of this breed able to get the ear of Bush. They should be tired for treason. All of them should be on a terror watch list....

Help Overturn Hate Legislation in Tampa.

Thats Gay

A week or so ago, I wrote how Hillsborough County, the county that contains Tampa has passes a very mean spirited anti gay resolution. In a true Republican tactic, they also voted that a super majority would be needed to overturn it (So much for that up or down vote they are always screaming for).

Well a group has started a grass roots campaign to overturn this un-American hate legislation, and I think they are being smart, they are going after a huge money maker, the Super bowl. Very very smart.

They also have a petition, You can sign it here

From thier a supporter (www.stoprondastorms.com)

We are hoping everyone will write to the NFL Commissioner Paul John Tagliabue and ask him to move the superbowl, if this ban is not overturned. We are planning to picket the superbowl if they do not comply.

They say that the have a link to his email, but I was not able to find it on the site, if you find it, comment here, and I will update the post.

I think that this move fron Hillsborought is real sad, the mayor of Tampa has come out in opposition. Here is another reason never to go home again.

Man Honoring is Charged with a Crime, and Harassed.

War on Terror

I have little to say here guys, I think this guy is a hero, other, don't.

From the Salt Lake Tribune

Since Mike Norton, of Layton, began displaying the pictures of American soldiers killed in Iraq on an illuminated sign in his front yard, his home has been vandalized, cars have stopped in front of his home and honked horns in the early morning hours and he has received anonymous harassing phone calls.

Now the city of Layton has gotten into the act.

Norton, who was told by a city official last winter that the sign in his yard did not violate zoning ordinances, received a letter from the Layton City Attorney's Office recently informing him that, upon further review, the sign does violate the ordinance and he would have 10 days to take it down.

The sign currently contains 1,715 postage-stamp-sized pictures of each dead soldier that Norton downloads from CNN's Web site. The number is updated whenever there is a new casualty. Above the pictures is a large bold-faced headline denoting the latest number of Americans killed in Iraq. Next to the sign is an American flag.

A True Republican Speaks Up.

Crazy Evangelicals

I wanted to point out to you just what is wrong with the right. The following post comes from a comment made on a blog I follow (Phish fan in Jesus Land). The person who makes these comments is a crazy right wing Christian that is a school teacher at a Christian Academy. Until a few hours ago, he had a blog, but he has removed it.

Proof that Republicans hate the troops.

You can see all the drama around this here, on a DailyKOS thread.

But here is the comment he made here that truly shows the attitude of the right, the sayanything crowd.

the Logic Monkey said...

Ho hum- I should've joined the army, since I'm for the war.....got anything new? God, I'm so sick of that argument. Really. You can apply it to anything- gee, if you are concerned with crime, you should go join the police, right?

What do you people think the army is for? It's for murdering people- that's the the army does. Do you think kids join the army so they can just sit on their ass and do nothing?

As for me or the "chickenhawks" I return to an argument I made a while ago- if Bush is so wicked and evil- if Republicans really are "theocrats" who are going to destroy the country, then you need to pick up a gun and try to kill as many of us as you can. Otherwise, we, being so all powerful, are going to win, aren't we?

If some 18 year old kid gets killed in Iraq, I don't care. Really. It's his job to kill and possibly be killed- if he didn't know that when he signed up, then he deserves to die. You have no sense of brutality and that's why you will lose and lose and lose- the army that kills the most, that causes the most unmitigated pain and misery to the other side is the army that wins, as Von Clausewitz told us.

My Home Town has Become a "antigay bigotry" haven...

Thats Gay

I moved to Tampa Florida at the age of 14ish. I went to Hillsborough High School, joined the military, and did some time at MacDill AFB. I have friends and family there right now. My mother works on Dale Maybry, so this is why this saddens me so much...

I will post this story from the St. Pete Times...

Few acts by Hillsborough commissioners have shamed the county like Wednesday's vote stoking antigay bigotry. The board voted 5-1 to "abstain from acknowledging, promoting or participating in gay pride recognition and events." The move has dubious legal force - no one bothered to ask the lawyers beforehand what the declaration might mean. Still, it is alarming that elected representatives would foster discrimination as a matter of policy.

One need not single out Ronda Storms, who raised the issue. Aside from Commissioner Kathy Castor, an overwhelming board majority embraced her public display of prejudice. Commissioner Ken Hagan was outside the room and should have the chance to cast his vote because the record is important. Constituents, gay or not, need to know where all commissioners stand.

Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio immediately denounced the move, which within hours reverberated worldwide through media reports and Internet sites. The county's image will suffer. The board made Hillsborough look ignorant and crude, just as local government is spending millions in tax dollars to attract artists, creative industries, tourists and conventions. Those commissioners who voted for it should explain the value they saw in running down their own community.

Hillsborough, and the city of Tampa is nothing but a "hate group".

Republicans Say, "To Hell with the Rule of Law"

Crazy Evangelicals

The Rebublicans have told the US Court system to get to hell...

From the NY Times

The House of Representatives took a little- noticed but dangerous swipe at the power of the courts this week. It passed an amendment to a budget bill that would bar money from being spent to enforce a federal court ruling regarding the Ten Commandments. The vote threatens the judiciary's long-acknowledged position as the final arbiter of the Constitution. It is important that this amendment be removed before the bill becomes law.

-snip-

Since the Supreme Court decided Marbury v. Madison in 1803, it has been clearly established that the courts have the ultimate power to interpret the Constitution. But right-wing ideologues, unhappy with some of the courts' rulings, have begun to question this principle as part of a broader war on the federal judiciary. The amendment that passed this week reflected an effort to use Congress's power to stop the courts from standing up for the First Amendment and other constitutional principles.

The Republican will stop at nothing to distroy this nation from the ground up. What a waste of air.

Crazy Evangelicals

White and Christian
The irony is that God does not have a political party, I would think that god would basically have no need for the politics here.

I will speculate, that is God did vote, he would not vote Republican. Why?

  • I think God is pro helping the poor - Republicans do not
  • I think that God would want to save earth - Republicans do not
  • I think God would want to make sure that children are kept healthy - Republicans do not.
  • I think that God would not care how much money the CEO makes - Republicans Do.
  • I think that God is for the most part against un-just wars - Republicans live for it.
  • I think God would choose medical care for the old over a pay out to the oil comps - Republicans don't agree.

Man I think I could go on, your welcome to add your own.

I do think that God would be a pro-lifer. But then again, he is god, he could tell us when life begins. That is the only think I think that God is for, oddly, the Republicans do not hold a patent.

Texas' governor Tells Gay Veterans Returning Home, to Get Out!

Crazy Evangelicals

Avoid TexasI am from Texas, I was born in Dallas, and spent most of my childhood in Round Rock, Tx, north of Austin. I am also a Vet, and I am also Gay, so this story is aimed at me I guess.

This story broke a few days ago, and I blogged on it here. There is another issue that has arisen from this. When he was asked about how he would tell gay and lesbian veterans of combat in Iraq that they cannot come home and get married, he replied,

Texans made a decision about marriage, and if there's a state that has more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that's a better place for them to live.

Wow, what a message to send those that defended their nation. I mean we all know that the Republicans have a clear loathing of the troops, but damn...

I also find it odd that all of this very anti-gay legislation is being pushed my a single 38 year old, makes me think... I mean the last politician that was as anti-gay as Perry was Mayor West, of Spokane Washington, and now he has been outed that he likes to hook up with young men on the side... Hmmm, I wonder.

USS Bill O'Reilly Sinks Before It Even Sails.

Humor

Bill is a shillThis post has nothing to be about anything really, it is just that I have a pure and unending dislike for the fake news man, Bill "Vibrator in my ass" O'Reilly.

Bill wanted to follow in the footsteps of other right-wing hacks like G. Gordon Liddy, and have his very own cruise. I guess it was going to be called the USS I'm a Lying Blowhard Who Thinks For More of Myself Than the Rest of the World. For those that do not know about this phenomenon, the right-wing hack, in this case Bill "Vibrator in my ass" O'Reilly, fleece their followers, making them pay far more for a cruise than it is worth so that they can wave at Bill in the dinning room, and hear an "Exclusive" lecture on how great he is.

This came from a great website Steet Jesus I hate Bill O'Reilly

Hello and thank you for your interest in the Thomas More Law Center Cruise with Bill O'Reilly. Unfortunately, the cruise did not have the participation that all parties anticipated. Although the guest appearance by Mr. O'Reilly and the other speakers have been canceled, the ship will still sail...

Ironically, the cruse was called "The Battle For American Values", and it made me wonder, should he really take our cue from Bill on family values? If I recall this guy was allegedly having phone with a producer of his show, he was allegedly using a vibrator in his ass at the time, and if I recall his wife was pregnant while this was going on. Family values Bill, you, really?

In a ceremony filled with religious references, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed a bill at a church school gymnasium that imposes more limits on late-term abortions and requires minors to get written parental consent for abortions.

The signing on Sunday came as several hundred demonstrators - some opposed to the signing of a bill on church property - protested outside.

"It has been a tragedy of unspeakable consequences that for decades activist courts denied many Texas parents their right to be involved in one of the most important decisions their young daughter could ever make - whether to end the life that was growing inside her," Perry told a crowd of about 1,000 people gathered at the Calvary Christian Academy. "For too long, a blind eye has been turned to the rights of our most vulnerable human beings - that's the unborn in our society."

Before Perry spoke, several pastors received standing ovations and shouts of "Amen!" from the crowd as they touted the two measures being signed by Perry.

"It seems to me that people of the great state of Texas will be silent no more," said Rod Parsley, of the Center for Moral Clarity in Ohio. "Folks in this room understand, God is still watching."
